It seems like every blogger out there, has something to say about Safari’s recent expedition into the wild, even Neil Gaiman.
I haven’t used it yet— neither on OS X or on Windows. But, based on what I’ve read, I have a few issues:
- For all of Apple’s effort over their HIG, they sure don’t seem to care about respecting another platform’s. Perhaps Apple just doesn’t care anymore?
- Stylable form controls, are you serious? IMHO one of the strongest features of the WebKit/WebCore rendering engine is the hard, fast standardization of these native elements. This relates to my previous complaint— the form controls on windows should look like their native Windows GUI counterparts.
- Safari on Windows? Awesome. Let’s just hope this “beta” really means “beta”.
